Are You Going to Watch The Hobbit?
Next week, the first installment of The Hobbit premiers in theaters.
In honor of the release, I wanted to share this beautiful instrumental compilation by The Piano Guys of Lord of the Rings music. (If you’re not subscribed to their YouTube Channel, you should be.)
Will you be watching The Hobbit in theaters or waiting until it comes out on video?

What a beautiful song. Thanks for sharing. Me and husband will go to see Hobbit as soon as possible but that’s likely after Christmas.
How about you? I’d love to read your review when you see it 🙂

I’m definitely going to see it. My husband isn’t sure if he wants to go to this one, but I have a close friend who will pretty much go see anything fantasy-related with me, so I’m going one way or another 🙂

Well, I have to be honest and say I don’t plan on seeing the movie at all, ever. As a kid The Hobbit was not something I read or was interested in. I watched the Lord of the Rings movies because I liked the combo of all the other creatures, but the Hobbits were my least favorite. I was more of an Anne of Green Gables kind of kid and I’m pretty much the same as an adult. I think I might buy Pride and Predjudice so I can keep watching it over and over without the bother of Netflix. And maybe Love, Actually, too. But, I hope you enjoy The Hobbit. 🙂

We’re going to pretend that no one else can hear me right now, so I can tell you about my split personality. I LOVE Anne of Green Gables and Pride & Prejudice (the BBC version that’s six hours long and stars Colin Firth). I lived on L.M. Montgomery growing up and Jane Austen’s tongue-in-cheek humor is something I admire. And both those ladies were far better writers than Tolkien. There. I said it. But…I still loved the LOTR’s movies and I’m definitely going to see The Hobbit (even though I never could get in to the book):)

I’m with you on the split personality thing, Marcy. My tastes were (and still are) so varied, it was difficult to answer when someone asked what I was into. I read everything from sci-fi and fantasy to the classics to horror to mystery to romance and everything in between.

Once the crowds die down, we’ll go. Previews I saw in the theater looked great

I’m not an opening night girl myself. I went for the Hunger Games, but very little else could draw me to a crowded theater. I love when the theater is almost empty.

Yep yep. I’m taking my cousin to dinner for his 18th birthday, then we’re going to The Hobbit for his very first opening night. So exciting!
Dec 08, 2012 @ 14:43:30
What a great way to celebrate his birthday! I’m sure you’ll both have fun 🙂

As a big fan of Martin Freeman, I was sold on seeing it from the moment I heard that. I just finished reading the book to my 12 y.o. and now we’re both really excited to go see it next weekend.

I love that you read the book to her and now are going to see the movie together. It sounds like this is something you’re really going to enjoy together 🙂

You have to watch this – every Hobbit trailer stitched together in chronological order 😛 My daughter asked me to take her to opening weekend for her 12th birthday. She’s a HUGE Legolas fan (I warned her the chances of Legolas being in the first movie weren’t great but she doesn’t care).

Actually, Lisa, she should be quite happy. Several of the characters from LOTR will make at least cameos and I’ve heard that Legolas’s role will be a bit more than that. He’s the son of the Elven King and the Elven King is in it a good bit, so it makes sense that his son will be around when he is.

Cameos by Legolas will make the friend I’m going with happy too. She always had a thing for him 🙂 I preferred Aragorn myself.

I read the Hobbit when I was a little girl and I’ve very excited about the movie… but I’ll probably wait for it to be on home video. I know, I’m a lost cause… but we never go to the theater.
Dec 08, 2012 @ 14:49:52
Haha. That’s okay. I actually understand. We only go to so many movies because we get free tickets through our credit card. Can’t turn down free 🙂

I’m not actually a fan of the other movies – despite my proclamation of being a massive nerd, I just never got into them. I think I should give them another chance, though, since so many people love them so much. I was young when I first watched them, and I think I’d be a little less overwhelmed by them now, and I’d probably understand them better. My dad asked me if I wanted to go see it, and I declined. But…I know the cinematography is beautiful, so it would probably be worth it just for that fact alone. I don’t know what to do!

I went to see Snow White and the Huntsman in theater even though I was fairly certain it wouldn’t be a great movie. I went because I’d heard the visuals were stunning and worth seeing on the big screen. I think The Hobbit will likely be the same way.
Dec 08, 2012 @ 14:42:27
Yarg, what I meant was that the visuals for The Hobbit will likely be stunning. I didn’t mean that I don’t think it will be a good movie! Where’s my coffee cup…
