6 Reasons Google+ Is Better for Author Platform Building than Facebook Is
By Marcy Kennedy (@MarcyKennedy)
I know I said we’d be alternating between science fiction/fantasy posts and writing posts week by week now that I’ve gone to my summer schedule, but I have a special guest post up today that I didn’t want you to miss. (Next week it’s time to talk Star Trek: Into Darkness!)
Today I’m at Jane Friedman’s blog giving the six reasons I believe Google+ is actually better for author platform building than Facebook is. Click here to read the post. And remember to leave a comment at Jane’s site so I know you stopped by!

Good stuff. I’ve been tempted to check into Google+ but I feel like I really don’t need one more social media site to be responsible for, comment on, check, etc. I already feel like I’m torn in several directions.
Good information though. I’ve kept it for my files.

Hi Marcy! Thanks for the great post! I read it a couple weeks ago and just now a question has popped into my head. Not sure if this was already covered in other comments… What’s the social etiquette for this platform? Can you follow/friend strangers you like without it being weird? I love connecting with others in my field and authors I admire, but I’m wondering if you mingle on it like Twitter or a Facebook profile/fan page. Thanks!

Google+ calls it circling, and it’s completely acceptable to circle people you don’t know. Communities are also a great place to get to know people who would otherwise be strangers.
